IVAN MARIN
Purchasing and Customer Services Manager,
New Zealand & Australia
Ivan Marin was born in Zadar, Dalmatia and studied commerce and business at the University of Zagreb in Croatia.
He continued living there and worked for the pharmaceutical division of a company called Pliva, as a co-ordinator between sales, purchasing, production and research and development. Ivan and his family then emigrated to New Zealand.
In 1994, Ivan began working for REM SYSTEMS in the purchasing department and has since been promoted to Purchasing and Customer Services Manager. This busy role requires co-ordinating shipping with freight forwarders, liaising with sales people, ensuring all of the company’s products are available ex stock and assisting customer services staff with everyday activities.
Working for a private company with under 40 staff provides an opportunity for personal interaction between directors and other employees, Ivan says. The directors “know what is happening”.
Ivan’s management skills have proven helpful with his after hours role as a coach for a water polo club. Ivan’s family and friends also enjoy the fruits of his other passion — wine and brandy making.
